Gold is one of the most long-lasting materials available for fine jewelry. Even if you have an active lifestyle, solid gold can withstand most elements and still retain the warmth and color that we all know and love. Here at HNY DTLA we use 14k solid gold jewelry to ensure durability and long-lasting wear.

We recommend polishing your gold with a jewelry polish cloth regularly to retain its color and shine.
Gold-filled is a USA industry standard that legally requires a jewelry piece to be 1/20th (5%) pure gold by weight. This type of metal consists of a thick layer of real gold applied to a base metal like brass or silver. The thick layer of gold makes it highly safe for people with allergies or sensitive skin. Great for daily wear, is tarnish free & water safe, gold-filled is absolutely your best option after solid gold for quality & durability .
JEWELRY CARE 101 :
To clean, use a jewelry polishing cloth and wipe away any dirt or chemicals on the jewelry. We do not recommend using an ultrasonic cleaner on gold-filled jewelry, especially on chains.
Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver. In this form the metal suffers from minimal tarnish, but it's generally too soft and malleable for many uses, including making most jewelry.
Instead, fine silver is alloyed with copper to create sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. But because of this, sterling silver might tarnish when it comes into contact with oxygen or sulfur. The best measure to prevent this is wearing your silver jewelry often. The oils in your skin help prevent tarnish. (This varies depending on your own body chemistry).
Still when cleaned, sterling silvers' beautiful bright and slightly warm coloring will suit almost anyone.
JEWELRY CARE 101 :
If your silver tarnishes the best way to clean it is with a jewelry polishing cloth.
